My Story
Hi! I’m Keira Bixler – an entrepreneur, author, performer, and advocate for literacy and community engagement. I’m passionate about the power of storytelling, both on and off the stage, and I believe that every child deserves access to the transformative power of books.
As Miss California's Teen, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to inspire young readers and promote literacy across America. Through my community service initiative, "Imagine with Keira - The Power of Literacy," which started when I was 5 years old, I’ve raised over $70,000 to distribute more than 10,000 copies of my children’s book to book deserts nationwide. I work closely with the lawmakers and national nonprofits to support childhood literacy efforts, including promoting Dolly Parton's Imagination Library of California.
Beyond my work in literacy, I'm a strong advocate for youth civic engagement. I serve as an active facillitator of civil discourse on Berkeley's campus and run a video series called "Becoming Informed," aiming to empower young Americans to make their voices heard. I'm also a proud member of the UC Berkeley Class of 2028, where I’m pursuing a double major in Economics and Media Studies, with dreams of a future in law, journalism, and public service.
In my free time, you can find me teaching dance, practicing for Miss America’s Teen, watching Marvel movies, listening to podcasts, or volunteering as an American Heart Association lobbyist. Fitness is an essential part of my life, and I stay active through cheerleading, dancing, and gym training. My artistic side comes through in my love for performing, calligraphy, and even collecting unique purses.
I'm driven by the belief that we all have the power to write our own story through the powers of education, passion, and human connection. As we work towards creating a more informed, literate, and inspired community, we can write our story together!
